This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Q jet guide for the recycler

Discussion in 'The Venerable Q-Jet' started by TexasT, May 25, 2006.

TexasT Texas, where are you from

Actually I need help to find one to use.

I'm building a .030 over 455, to be backed by a 2004R. Rear Gear tbd, but I have aquirred a 8.5 10 bolt from a '72 Skylark and am leaning towards 3.08 or 3.23 if anyone has some good used ones.

This brings us to the question. I saw a Q jet on a Cadillac 500 but didn't note the year(Mid 70's I'd guess). After a search I didn't find much info on the carb in question other than another post here stating that this might not be a good choice for a performance carb.

How do I determine if this would be a good one to get and what CFM it might be rated at?

    Thanks

Rich, It is a Buick and it wants a Buick carb! Just find an 71 -74 Electra or riv as they are all 800 CFM carbs and are the best. I would think Texas yards would have plenty of them. I have even found some here in rustville Mass. 71 starts with 7041, 72 starts with 7042. Fourth digit is year.
