Last night the wife and I were on our way to a cruise night (Bald Hill). We exited Sunrise Highway behind a clone 69' Yenko Chevelle and a 74 GTO (2 dr. Ventura with I guess a 350 and GTO badging, looked original- Boy did they ruin cars after 71). We were all heading north on N. Ocean Ave a 4 lane main road with lights niceley spaced. I was behind the Yenko who was side by side with the smogger laden GTO. We are fortunate enough to be the first cars at the light. Some Revving going on with the guys in front, the light pops green some tire screeching and we're off. The Yenko pulls out in front has me by 3 cars I am side by side with the GTO. I am pulling away from him but maintaining 3-4 cars on the Yenko. We did this on 1 more light with the same results. At the next light the guy in the Yenko is looking in his rear view with this inquisitive look.
We get to Bald Hill and the GTO & Yenko split off and park 2 rows away from where I park. The wife and I start to wander through, looking at the cars. Turns out GTO and Yenko must be buddies and are parked next to eachother. I look into the Yenko's hood - Just a 396 4-speed 69 Chevelle (3000 lbs. I'm guessing). The owners of the GTO and Yenko are talking infront of their cars. I make sure they can hear me as I say to the wife while I point at their respective cars "Honey, we gave up about 1500 lbs. but kept right up with him- No way it's a real Yenko and this little GTO got beat by his Daddy's Riviera". We walked away laughing. It was fun and I could feel the hatred stares through the back of my head. LOL:bla:
