    hi folks ,
After 3 transmissions , including a perfectly good th400 switch pitch , I’m ready for a good overdrive transmission . I would like to contact someone about my current setup , and goals of this install .
    Thank you

Buy once cry once especially with a TH2004R. Prices on 4L80 with the necessary bits for speedo and shift control may have improved but the 2004R makes for a nice conversion. If you are running a stall of any significance the lockup is almost like a 5th gear.

Forgot to mention, budget for some new flexible lines and a good cooler as the OD Trans will run warmer, especially if you go with the 2004R.

TexasT Texas, where are you from

What do you plan to put through it as far as hp/Tq? I would spring for a billet shaft forward drum for sure. Depending on the power some billet apply rings for the clutches possibly and careful assembly by a knowledgeable individual that you know has built em for power. Not the local guy who builds "race" transmissions. I have other suggestions if you want.

Take it from someone who had a 500 HP Turbo Regal and blew several 2004Rs..............have the tranny build with as much billet as you can afford. And, use a builder that is intimately familiar with the 2004R.

I recommend Chris at CK performance in New York. A very knowledgeable and helpful guy.

He has put stout 200-4Rs in hi torque and hp applications many times. He knows how to build them to survive.

Thanks , not looking for a race transmission . No high speed governors and high pressure pumps . I ended up with a barely streetable unit once ! It’s a slightly modified 455 .030 . Stage 1 heads and cam . 3:73 Eaton posi . Holly 800 dp . I like the holly and would need about 3000 stall to keep from loading it up

Go with CK, they build a nice 2004R and it will be reliable. Your mild 455 makes enough torque to hurt a stock 200 trans, do it right the first time.

X2 for Janis Transmission. He built mine with all billet internals and it functions and handles all my 470's 575hp and 578lbs ft. with no problem. Vince is a super nice guy to work with and extremely reputable. Roger

X2 Prices are all over the place. $1700 - $3000.

I need to make this conversion too. I was expecting to spend $2k total. Is that realistic?

I paid $1800.00 for mine from Janis and he provided the GN core. This was 6 years ago so I'm sure that has changed a bit since then. All the strongest pumps, clutches and billet components were used, there wasn't anything left out because he knew what I was running in front of it. Shifts hard enough to chirp the tires under normal excelleration and even harder when I'm on it. Great trans ! Roger
