Coming back from Mike Mullens with an empty trailer, Dave FAlley and I (I was at the wheel) were on this 2 lane stretch of road that has several places where it has a slow lane to pass with. At this one town (cant remember name) several trucks with trailers and circle jerk race cars all pulled out in front of us. I have a 02 GMC Dmax with a Juice/attitude programmer and a K&N Filter thats it. Not to mention the EMPTY 24 foot enclosed trailer:laugh: Everytime the slow lane appeared the pack would all run hard to pass the slower trucks with trailers. I was in the back behind another dmax chevy truck and the smoke poured from his pipe all the way up the hills. Me I just cruised to pass and I stayed behind him till he was in the lead then on this one run he got over into the slow side we both were flat out on the floor and ran up the hill and I just ran away from him up the hills. DId I mention I was empty??:bla: I should have taken a picture of his facial expression as I went by him. Boy was he surprised..... I stormed out about 1/2 mile and stayed there all the way to the speedway the races were at. He probably thought I was headed there but we flew by and kept going.
Can you imagine the talk in the pits later that night???? I can hear it now.............." What the hell was in the truck to make it haul ass like that???"

Just goes to show that the right tuning can make a big difference .

I run a Hypertech on my '05 Chevy with the duramax. Put it on level 3 and never looked back. No increase in fuel economy, but big increase in pulling power.

Michael, sorry Brandy and i couldn't make it up to see y'all do the reveal. The plans we had to work up at mom's fell through (it WAS supposed to storm and didn't). Ahh, well I'm sure Mike will have more work for you.....:TU:

A good friend of mine recently bought a 4500 series Chevrolet roll back with Duramax , no upgrades on tuning yet . I have been with him with a car on bed and one on stinger in back , set cruise control at 85 mph , up and down small hills and holds speed . To me that is impressive loaded as it was and no aftermarket tune .

I do that while I'm pulling a 26ft camper. Wife gets pissed. Anyways mine is a manual dodge dually cummins. The other day I hit a little loose rock on pavement when I was taking off and she was spinning and hopping the tires a little. So I thought what the hell and grabbed third gave her hell and about twenty feet into a 4 tire blackmark I heard a boom, tranny jumped out of third. Thought I blew clutch out but I still had 1st, reverse & 5th gear. Took to shop and $2000 later fixed. Twisted main shaft in half. Not gonna do that no more.:Smarty:

I'm sure the repair hurt but I bet the wife's comments hurt more , LOL. The last front spoiler I broke off the X while loading on the trailer with wife watching was more ouch listening to her than the broken spoiler .

DMaxs are fast but I've taken a few out in my Hemi. It's crazy what a tuner can do for a diesel.

I've had several cars pull up beside me and want to race while I'm pulling my Buick on a open trailer back from Beech Bend. As I tow with a Chevy 1 ton dually, 454, TBI motor, everyone passes me except for the gas station. I'm really thinking about buying a diesel truck as I would like to go out of town and race at some of the Buick events.

Dodge has the same problem. Weak trannies. Weak rear ends also.

I've seen some crazy cummins at the track. 38inch tire, 4x4, 12 valve twin turbo run 12s. Had to weigh like 10,000 lbs but it was one bad truck.

the dmaxs have a good tranny but your putting so much through it(800-1000 lbs of tq) you will kill it on high levels. i run a 90 hp tune in mine. the new dodge tranny the japanesse one is a good tranny too.

you would love a new diesel or even a newer gas truck would be alot more powerful than the old 220 horse tbi truck
