I shipped my 69 AM FM radio out for a restore and Bluetooth upgrade it should be completed in about a week. Is there anything else I should request before he ships it back? How does the Bluetooth work for those that have made the upgrade?

You are rebuilding your old stock radio so thats cool.....When my 95 dodge stereo died I replaced it with a BT stereo.... I HATE it... You drive down the road you want the music on but not over powering the sound of the motor ETC ..Volume at 1 maybe 2 thats just a example.. Next thing you know the phone rings though the truck speakers automatically the ring going up to 10.. Sounds like a fire police & ambulance plus the Air raid sirens are all in the cab...

Only nice thing about BT is it keeps the miles off my truck...

I have a conversion in my GS just installed about 3 weeks ago. It was done by S&M Electro-Tech and is the 2nd one they have done for me. I'm still learning to use all of the special programming functions but am really enjoying talking hands free on my cell phone and listening to Sirius XM from the iPhone. Here are several options you might want to consider:
A pre-amp output in case you want to add an amp later on
A low level Sub woofer output
A USB output for favorite music on a memory stick.
A remote mike jack in case you want to locate one outside the radio. (the internal mike works fine on mine)

The Bluetooth works like this on my conversion...…..When a call comes in the radio announces "Bluetooth call". If I want to accept the call I twist the tuning dial clockwise and it connects. If I want to reject the call, I twist the tuning knob counter clockwise and the call disconnects. All of the other controls work as on the original radio...…..on/off, volume, tone control, fader & station preset buttons. There are also lots of audio functions that are programmable with various manipulations of the volume, tone, fader, and tuning knobs. It's lots of fun to use and very feature laden but can get a bit complicated until you learn it. I don't know how yours will work but, the above is how S&M does theirs.

On most of the BT conversions the volume can be synchronized between the phone and the radio so that calls and music will sound about the same. At least that's the way mine works between my iPhone and my conversion.

Whoops. Me Bad.... Its the ringer volume that goes full blast. The conversation is about equal to the music...

I was at a drive up window getting my order.. Phone rings.... The poor person handing out the order got startled and dropped the order. It's Freaking loud...

I've had people that are more tech savvy mess with it.. nothing...

Jim just did an AM one for me that I'm waiting for him to ship.

It'll be nice to have a working radio that I can stream music through.

Brett, I look forward to seeing how we will switch from AM or FM to using the Bluetooth. I am also curious about the phone and pairing it to the car.

The clip shows Jim pressing a preset button to activate the Bluetooth.
