rally wheels for my trailer?

I got thinking that it'd be sweet to have 14'' rally wheels on my boat trailer to match the LeSabre

The tires on the trailer are 205/75/14. I took a tape measure to the wheel without removing it and it seems to be a 5x4.5'' bolt pattern.

Will a pair of rally's fit my tires and hubs?

Is it a single wide or a double wide?? :Brow: just kidding. If you take a measurement at the studs, hook the lip of the tape measure on the back edge of one stud, and then measure to the center of the second stud ( skip a stud, in either direction ) and that's the bolt pattern width.

Trailer wheels are usually 5 on 4 1/2 which is a Ford/ Mopar pattern. Some trailers like my car trailer are 5 on 5 which is a full size GM pattern. I could put big car rallys on my trailer if I wanted.

In your case though, Buick rallys wont fit. You could get a set of 14" Ford Magnum 500's and possibly put a Buick centercap on them :Do No:

I'll check the bolt pattern again tomorrow.

The Magnum 500s aren't quite as sweet IMO but a good suggestion if I have the Ford/Mopar pattern.

    Thanks for the replies

Don't you have to use a stiffer wall trailer tire to be safe? I did not think you should use regular car tires for trailers :Do No:

The size I gave is the size of my trailer-duty trailer tires  They're like new so I'd rather not change sizes if I don't have to.

I have the 205/75/14 trailer tires on 14" Buick rally's on my car trailer. Even though the trailer is kinda worn, the wheels look pretty good on there...although the paint on the wheels looks crappy after 4+ years.
Here are a couple of pics.

Or just do like I did with a old set of Wildcat Hubcaps, find a set of Buick caps and put on the steel wheels

If you don't have brakes on your trailer you can take the hubs off and get them redrilled to a 5x4.75 patteren. I've had it done by a machinest friend for $20.00 a hub. I'm doing it to my new boat trailer so I can put buick rallys on mine.

I measured the lugs, the back edge of one to the center of the 2nd...4.5''

    ...will Buick rallys fit?

I put rally wheels on a grill I built for a friend in 04... they looked good, but the small centers would not fit. I don't think the deep centers would either.

sry I didn't refresh and see the new posts by you guys...

Thanks for the additional info...having my hubs redrilled would work. I'll keep that in mind if my bolt pattern isn't the same though the Magnum 500's is another good idea

    Roy,
Years ago I had a trailer similar to yours with Buick wheel covers on. On one of the annual trips to BG I was traveling through the Chicago area (one of my favorite places to drive through....NOT!!), and I was on one of the incredibly smooth sections of freeway that Chicago offers, (YA!), and I lost a wheel cover. It proceeded to hit a ladies vehicle and man was she MAD!! Can't say that I blame her! It was my fault! She proceeded to stay close for a while and gave me the old one finger salute, before speeding off. I was sure I would be getting a notice from the State Patrol but I was lucky and never heard any more about it. I just shutter to think what would have happened if it would have gone through her windshield!!

The point I'm trying to make here is that if you are going to run wheel covers of any kind on a car trailer, but SURE to secure them with screws, clips or something! A car trailer wheel/tire can go through a lot more stress and flex than the tow vehicles wheels/tires can while going over the same bumps.
Anyway, just thought that I'd offer my input.

    Thanks,
    Steve

I've known of hubcaps coming off but didn't think of the the damage/injury risk. I agree that a trailer wheel is definitely exposed to more stress due to the hard azz leaf springs, stiff sidewall tires at max psi, probably not balanced...a dab of silicon on the retainers or screws or something would be a good idea I agree.

Good advice cant ever be to safe and should be easy enough to fasten to wheel.:TU:
FYI Though those caps fit real tight and they have been on for years and countless miles, even hauling jeeps up dirt logging roads. and I get my tires balanced so they run as smooth as possible. But all it takes is once.
