I was pretty shocked to see it. It was the last car I ever expected to see in my neck of the woods. Vive La Difference
It looks like a Chrysler. Strange grille though. Almost has that close but no cigar Canadian flare to it.
Technically I did not randomly spot this. I went to buy something off of Marketplace and the guy had this in the garage. Local car sold here that he bought from the original owner. Car has original paint minus pass fender. It was last tagged a few decades ago. Pretty cool Swinger, 340 and a 3 speed stick.
Here you go, I saw this one at a vintage motorcycle swap meet last year! Never thought that I would ever see one in person!
I had a ride in one in '92. Railway staffer was finishing his shift and kindly gave me a lift to a museum. I'm pleased to say it didn't fall over.
Here's a couple from yesterday... Nice OBS GMC C1500 Stepside (I tend to notice these more since I now own the Chevy version) in Tampa traffic: And a super clean, all original 67 Camaro RS, in the office parking lot:
The Robin has a horrendous safety record due to the three wheels, so it must be driven very cautiously. I like it just because it's weird. I saw a couple of them in Ireland. I haven't checked here in Florida, but in Massachusetts, three wheels makes it a motorcycle (unless they have changed the law since I moved south). You would need a motorcycle license to drive it. Since I have had one since MA first required one, that isn't a problem for me. I have never taken a motorcycle drivers test because I was grandfathered when MA decided that a separate license for motorcycles would be required. Florida accepts the MA license because MA accepts the Florida license. The same is not true for gun permits.
I think that I want one because I want to be able to say that I owned the world's worst motor vehicle.
Naaah, he's a friend of mine. 80+years old, named Lee. First time I met Lee, the fuel pump in that '60 took a crap as they are apt to do on that gen Caddy engine, right in front of my house about 6 or 8 years back when I owned my Riviera. At that point in time, I asked if he wanted to sell it, and he said he wanted 50k for it (the interior is at least as rough as the outside, and it's "just" a Series 62, which is the basic Cadillac back then). I was polite about it, helped him get the Caddy running, and he and I kept running into each other and have been friends since. He's on a cane now, but he was at one time a big, powerful, formidable man, I'd guess he's still 6'5" and around 240 lbs...He still drives his old stuff every day, has quite the collection of different things in that same rough condition, but all running: A '40 Diamond T flatbead, '63 Starfire, two '58 Rancheros, '58 Fairlane, yadayada...always wants to sell them to me for an insane amount, always says "A guy like you with your money could put 4 grand into that car and make 50 thousand bucks....." Don't think he has any family that's interested in his stuff anymore, so someday I might end up with it all even though I don't really want it. But always good to see Lee and shoot the s*** when we randomly run into each other Sunday mornings for breakfast and a beverage at our favorite dive bar. These are a couple of his Fords I posted back on page 4 of this thread back in 2019. His wife passed on and now he lives in a little run down one bedroom house, all his stuff outside. Just one of those characters you meet in life and are glad you did. Hopefully I'm one of those guys when I'm old(er), sharing stories with the younger guys over a screwdriver and biscuits and gravy.
