    hello too all
I was wondering how rare tone tone paint
    was instead of vinyle top?

some one told me that strike cars were built this way because of labour dispute?

my car has all trim that material top would have just painted from the factory and listed on build sheet.

Myself never seen one done like this before in 1970 anyway any one else have one?

    D99 two tone paint option 1968 -72 GS 350, GS 400, GS455s = 2385

609 GS cars had this option for the 70 model year.

One of my 1970 cars is a 25/10 car. Gulfsteam Blue with White painted top. Kind of an odd option but it didn't trap moisture and didn't cost very much originally compared to a vinyl top.

I wish mine was just solid Gulfstream Blue and am torn whether I will leave the white painted top.

I have seen a few of the painted top cars.

My dad ordered a 70 Stage 1 with Burgandy Mist bottom and white painted top. It still lives in Michigan and here on the board.

the painted two tone top had nothing to do with a strike. The shear number of vinyl top cars shows that........Chris, if you paint your white top another color your crazy. The blue with the white is super sharp.

Here is a Gulfstream blue with white top. I have a gulf stream blue with black top. I love the contrast.

I've had several Skylarks with factory painted tops.

i have seen number of cars with painted white tops. not ny cup tea.
i had a friend in 1967, purchased a new pontiac beaumont (like a chevelle) 2dr ht that was painted all white from the factory. he had the roof painted a satin black but such that is was orange-peeled. appeared almost like a vinyl roof. it looked very good.

I for one like the painted top, it really looks good with some colors (plus you avoid the moisture problem). I was thinking about doing the whole two-tone thing and painting my top instead of vinyl but only time will tell....Ive been know to change my mind a time or two
