    Hi,

I bought a small touch up gun with a 1mm tip to spray PPG's epoxy on a couple spots where I sanded thru (I shot the whole car in PPG Epoxy, then shot urethane high-build & board-sanded). Because of the small gun & tip size, I want to thin the primer a bit. The PPG tech sheet calls for DTV reducer, with a final mix of epoxy/activator/reducer to 4:1:1/2. My local PPG supplier doesn't have DTV and said he's never heard of anyone reducing epoxy (???). So my question to you experts....is DTV my only option, or is there another reducer/thinner I can use which may be more readily available?

    Thanks!

    Jay

Hi,I work at a PPG paint store and I haven't heard of a DTV reducer but my guess is they mean DT series reducers[DT860 DT870 DT885] and the V stands for various temperture ranges. With PPG epoxy you may reduce it with Lacquer, enamel,or urethane reducers.

If your shooting DPLF epoxy you can reduce it 10% with DT reducer

I wouldnt reduce it. I spot prime with high build primer with my mini just fine without reducing. Should work just fine for epoxy as well
