Hard to take out the tail lamps without removing (at least bringing down by a few centimeters) the rear bumper.

Is there any way to easilly reach the big bolts behind the bumper ? (or even better, a trick to remove the tail lamp without touching the Bumper ?

    Thanks

    Hello Jean Luc!

I haven't tried this myself yet, but I have removed the plastic bezels with the chrome plates above the taillights. Have you done this? You may be able to get to the taillights and remove them when that is out.

The 2 piece plastic bezel is a little hard to get out, but I managed to wiggle it until it came out. I painted it and put it right back in. That was the only reason I removed it.

Hi, Martin, this comforts me a bit. I managed to take them out the way you say, and after a long struggle with the kids asked to climb on the bumper (with clean socks !!) in order to bend it a bit and ease the exit, I got them out. I also needed to take the bottom screws (after the bolts) attaching the lamps out of the plastic, otherwise no chance to slip them out. My concern now is to put all this back and avoid to scratch the elements once restored
Sent the bezels and the grills to a chrome plater, as well as the door handles and the mirrors (here is an other story to take the remote cable out). He said the "flowers" on the cast are not too deep, and he will do a good job.

I also did the same with all the dashboard parts and sent them
to a plastic chrome specialist. He applies the same coating principle as these plastic chrome caps you can see on cosmetics or on pens. But he will cover 100% of the surface and I will have to re do the wood and the black. Not an issue, mines were in relatively poor condition.

    Cheers,
