I have a quick question about a fender repair panel for my 1971 Skylark. Year One and Original Parts Group both offer repair panels for part of the fender between the door and the wheel. My question is whether these are just pieces of flat sheet metal, or are they stamped sheets that would just weld in place of the old section?

In other words, do they look like the ones in the picture? :)

Also, do any of you know what it would cost to have something like that welded on? The body shop would have to cut the old area out too. Ballpark is fine, I just don't have the time right now to get an estimate at the local shops.

    Thanks!

I have one and they are decent. You have to cut the old section off and splice/seam the repair panel in place.
I would estimate $100-125 to have a shop do all the work, including removing the old one, installing the new one, welded in, ground smooth and body filler applied then primed.

I have to move to Florida!!! :)
That job would be $300 - $400 here in NY!

Figure that to be a 3 hr job. Typical here in FL is $35/40 per hour shop rate.
