Had a section of rear fuel line that rusted to the point of leaking. I replaced the section of fuel line with some rubber hose and its been fine for like 10 months and at least 8 thousand miles now. Is it okay to just leave it alone for good? Should I get some braided line or something? I'm trying to avoid spending a ton of money on remanufactured lines. Thanks!

What car is this? I take it the vehicle is a daily drivers and is driven in the elements? IMO if the fuel lines are rusting to the point of leaking then the brake lines are not far behind. IMO on a budget for a vehicle that may only last another couple yrs then rubber lines are fine. Why dump hundreds of dollars into something with limited life left? I myself have cut off fuel and tranny steel lines and ran the length of the vehicle in rubber just to eliminate any further line rot/failures with plow trucks. Brake line issues on plow trucks are a given, once one rots replace them all and good for a yr or two. So, IMO i see no issue with running rubber lines as long as the proper lines and clamps are used and they are attached with care.

The steel line is going to further corrode, so you may be making more repairs to it. The hose is good for a long time, but your inspection intervals should be closer together to avoid getting surprised with another leak. As has been mentioned, look to your brake lines, as well.

On my daily driver Plymouth, I replaced the rusted steel lines from the in-tank fuel pump with high pressure fuel hose for fuel injection. I just made sure it was secured tightly to the chassis away from heat or moving parts. It's been there for two years now.

Brake lines are all new. Its my '85 LeSabre, I'll probably have the car for the rest of my life but I just cant afford to get new full length lines atm. :Dou:
