    Hi gang.

Have '72 skylark two door hdtop. Interior is rough shape.
Bench seats and door panels need refinished.

If I just want a "basic factory" looking black interior
(not custom/ not fancy) is there a vendor you
would recommend who supplies these items?

    What are the options?

    Thanks....

You can buy new int. panels and then recover yours...basically you use the metal upper backer and then attach the new panels to the metal substrate/backer. As for seats, add new foam/padding and then add new covers. I have this info on our site or if you have not done it before....expect to spend about $700+ for a new interior

In this case , you really get what you pay for . I bought Legandary and the guy at the upholstery shop said they were a great fit . He also said he's had a cheap set someone brought to him , and it cost him more in labor to completely disassemble them , and restitch them back together . They just would not fit the seats the way they were . Beware of junk !

Legendary is running a special now if you re buying all those items. Purchase a full set of front/rear seat covers and front and rear door panels and receive a FREE set of bucket seat or bench style molded foam kit.

Regarding the interior, I do not hear anyone
recommending Poston or Year One or OPGI....

    Any thoughts on the product
    those vendors supply....?

There are only 2 manufacturers of Buick Skylark interiors.

    1. Legendary
    2. PUI

I have used both and to me they are equal. PUI has come a long way since the 80's. All the vendors carry either one or both.

I can help you guys out with those items . I am a Legendary distributor and a PUI distributor . I highly suggest Legendary not only for quality but also for fit and finish. PUI is ok for your drivers but if you are going for all out then Legendeary is your maker. Call me at the shop for pricing . I am offering you guys a 5% discount off the Legendary catalog . Check out my new website www.bennettsupholstery.com

i believe that legendery will also produce your seat covers from original material (a thicker guage), for a price, if they have the material.

I'm looking into a complete color change in my 1969 skylark. It is currently light blue and I was wanting to change to a black interior. I see I can order most the parts myself from Legendary and do the work myself, but what would a shop charge to do a complete color change out of curiosity.

Problem I have with Legendary door panels is upper area that glues on metal portion has thick padding. Original was just Vinyl glued to metal with no padding. Can this be peeled off? does not look right to me.

"Original was just Vinyl glued to metal with no padding."

    Dave, that is wrong,
Orginally there was a thin layer of a spun material padding between the vinyl & steel at the top. Legendary's material is a little thicker then the original.

Duane, I did not know that. I was going by my originals that I thought was just on metal. they have never been off metal.. I just saw someones Legendary door panels and was dissapointed with the thick padding.

    Dave,
I don't know what to tell you about the thicker padding, there are only so many thicknesses of material around anymore. When we started making our door panels I could get a thin 1/8" foam, so we used that. It was a different type of material but finished with approximately the same look.

I guess we are just stuck with whatever is available. Maybe a shop could peel off foam and glue on a strip from a cotton t shirt or something. Is that to thin?
