You are the man, Frank!! Thank you very much... :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer :beer later Tim
Great. When can we order? Also, have you considered making the throttle cable bracket for a '70 455? Thanks, Jeff
availability Phil I haven't received them yet, only a call that they were finished. I have one on my 68 BBB and have had one on a 70 stage one BBB. Frank
Hi Frank, yea it is the bracket that holds the throttle cable to the intake manifold. I can't seem to find one. I have read that it is year specific and maybe even model. I have bought 2 and 1 was wrong and the other never showed up. If you have an extra one or plan on making some, I will take 2. Thanks, Jeff
cable Is this what im gonna need when converting my 350 skylark over to my new 494 stroker monster?? if so put me down for one!! Shawn
This is a much needed part! I suggested it to Mike G., but I think he's not in a position to pursue right now. Yes, this is needed to do a 350 to 455 conversion. You can make do with the 350 bracket but you have to do some bending and it looks terrible.
The reason I asked about the length is we tried several different lengths on my 455 conversion (with an SP1). What worked best was the 23" cable from a 72 Centurian 455. We had a longer cable from an Electra (I think that's what it came off), but it seemed a little bunched between the firewall and throttle bracket. We also had a couple of different carb combinations. With the Qjet and a 1" spacer, we found a stock bracket that fit just right. But when we put the Holley on w/o a spacer, that bracket wouldn't work. I think the one we used for the Holley was the 350 2bbl bracket, turned around, with a new hole drilled to move the bracket back just a little further. If you look at the pictures from the $300 Skylark thread you may be able to see that setup. There's also the Spectre (among others) adjustable bracket. I may pick one of these up and see how it works too. Once I cut the hood and have a Stage 2 scoop added, I will put a spacer under the Holley. The Spectre adjustable bracket mounts to the carb stud, so that will be much easier than trying to find one that mounts to the manifold and also works well. I'm afraid that the 21" cable may be a touch short if you're running an SP1, especially if you're spacing it.
Hi Frank, I am out of town till the weekend. I will post a picture of the one I have. It is the wrong part and you can see the problem I am having. Thanks, Jeff
Throttle Bracket Picture Hi Frank, sorry it took so long but I found a picture of the part. It is in the attached file. Thanks, Jeff
any update on availability of these cables? I have a 455 in my 65 and need a shorter cable as it's bunched up between the firewall and throttle bracket.
