Ok, the mold is about finished, and in a few days I will be popping the first of the new Repro Shifter handles cast in black. I may also be able to cast in other colors if someone is interested in customization. Black for now. The piece I cast from is not perfect, but very nice (Thanks George N). I should have a test (white piece) in a couple days. Following that, I will be taking orders. This is a very limited run, because of mold deterioration. I am going to use the post sequence in this thread to determine who gets it first. They will be $50 shipped. The factory produced these and then machined them to fit the shifter handle. I had to reverse this and fill a small area that needs machined. There will be some neccessary work with a file to finish them, but I am talking very little work. I will post pics in a couple days of the finished product, but wanted to get a heads up before I start investing in material to produce.

    Thanks,
    Jon

Yeah Mike, me too! I borrowed a handle from George N and then got side tracked on the making of it. This was a VERY hard piece to mold because GM cast these as a big piece, and then used a jig to machine the grooves on them. Since I dont have the jig, and really didn't feel like ruining Georges original, and I had to find a way to cast them without locking the piece and keeping the machine work down to a minimum. All it will require is the side slot be drilled and then filed out with a square file. Thats it. Also, I left indentations where the mounting screws will need tapped. Mold needs to cure for about 2 days, then I can cast a piece. Hopefully by weeks end.

My other option is to make them as one big piece like GM did and sending them to you to machine them. We will see how this turns out.

I am kinda surprised here that no one but Mike has shown any interest in these???? Do I not complete this project? Does everybody have one, or are you all waiting for pictures of the completed piece? Just curious, because to my knowledge no one is producing these?

I'll be interested once you get a few made. I bought a complete set-up used from a member here not long ago. Dog hid the rubber handle ..........somewhere..........? Still hoping to find it & have it still in one piece.

Good, cause I just ordered the black colorant for the material. Demolded the piece last night and have a clean negative to work with now. Anxious to see how the first piece demolds.

BTW, I may only get 20 pieces out of this first mold. If there is still interest, I can remake, but wont if no one shows interest.

Wow, just got the new stuff and the mold release is fantastic and the colorant for the material is deep rich black. I tested it on a retired mold of a GN center cap I made awhile back. Also, here is a pic of the handle that I cast. You see the white where it was filled. This will be cast and will have to be removed with a square file. Very easy! Should be able to cast my first in the next day or so.
