Anybody ever put Hurst wheels on a 70-72 Skylark or GS. I noticed they are being reproduced now in the 15x7 sise. I've allways liked the way they look, but I'm not sure how they would look on a 70 GS.

I really am thinking of buying a set I could swap between my GTO and the wagon, but I haven't seen them on a Buick yet. Tony

I think the 15's are around 1900 a complete set. Tony

I'd gladly give that if Linda Vaughn came with them. :Brow:

Those repro wheels are made by the Parts Place. To see a set look at the 67 w30 442 that was owned by Buicklawyer here but is now being sold at Barrett Jackson next week. They installed a set on the car for the purpose of the auction and they made the car. See it on the BJ website.

I do think you did not see many on Buicks in part because they started as a Pontiac /Olds thing. Why would they start with the others? Well I think it had to do with the whole "Hurst equipped concept" and Buick did not go to Hurst shifters untill several years later than the P/O boys. They also look a bit busy with vinyl top cars and better with solid colors top and bottom.

I called The Parts Place last night and they told me $1595 for 2 15 x7's and 2 15 x 8's plus shipping. Still thinking it over. They are the only other rims I would think about other than the rally wheels.

Yes that is Buicklawyer's old ram air 67 W30 with non power drums and manual steering. He still has two 66 cars --one black and the other red. Somewhere on here is his 66 W30 after he put Parts Place Hurst wheels on it. He got one of the first set they remade.

How close are they to the originals? Can you tell the difference between these and and NOS set? Just curious. They look awesome :TU:

Jason, they are real close. A trained eye can tell the difference but actually these repos are a just plain pretty on certain cars--like Black. There is an old thread with a pix of the wheel up close on my 66 track pack W-30. Flynbuick can find it . I just learned to type! :bglasses:

Noticed how much you paid for those rims on that other thread and they had cracks in the welds?? For that kind of moola I think I would ship them right back to the sender!!

The wheels really do make the car! Buicklawyer do you have contact info on where to buy? I tried the parts place on the web, but do not think I located the right place. Thanks, Mike

Be aware that the 14" are the only ones they sell with the chrome trim rings..you may not like the look of the 15's which don't have them. To me the trim ring on this particular wheel contributed as much to "the look" as the 5 spoke center. Patton

I did check out The Parts Place and they do have both with trim ring and without in 14" and without trim ring in 15". $1500 without the trim ring and $1900 with trim ring, for the 14". Thanks for the tip on the look without the trim ring, they do not have pictures on there site, so hard to see the difference. I just finished getting my stock wheels powder coated and have NOS dog dish hub caps for my 66 442. Have not ordered the tires yet, and now that I saw the Hurst repo's, I might just have to go that way as it is hard to beat chrome and black. It really jumps at you!

14 inch work and look great on the 66 442.

they definitely do Jim! Olds's seem to "handle" a 14" wheel a lot better than some of the other Abodies...they don't seem to look small on Olds's--even the 70-72's. Patton
