I've checked OPGI, CARS and Yearone who all get their package trays from REM Automotive. Finally ended up ordering from Yearone to the tune of $42 for the package tray, and $26+ for shipping UPS GROUND. :af: This really just pisses me off because a package tray of a lesser needed color was HALF THE FREAKIN PRICE. So have these suppliers just stopped selling the package trays, or does REM no longer make them? Because I've got catalogs from CARS and OPGI that say they have the same trays at lower prices.
tray do not buy the cheap one!!! they are crap :af: the deluxe one i got was blue,i dyed it black.neither one fit worth a damn, had to trim the thing carefully
Did you try the Parts Place? I got mine there, albeit over a year ago and it fit good. What kind of fit problems did you have, Jamie?
The picture in OPGI's catalog looked right, so I assume it's the same. Who did you get yours from Jamie? I would have been on the phone ripping the guy a new one if they sent me the wrong color.
i cant say were they were from.the cheapie was givin to me by a board member(54rich?)the blue(deluxe) one came w/car,i should have said that, sorry :error:i think the bag said "rem?"the cheapie would scratch just by running your fingernail across it ou: the delux has the foam padding & speaker holes(perferated)i also got the jute,it fit ok.both had the bow backwards at the back were it slides under the window frame.the center butted up WAY before the ends,i had to take off a good inch in the center,i trimed it 3 times just so i wouldnt take off too much.bear in mind, this is the first pack tray i have installed & i had no sample/guide to go by.i used gorilla glue on the flap that tucks behind the seat, good stuff :TU: and then i cut the holes for speakers ou: it looks ok,but i still have the sailpanels & stuff to finish.
That sounds like alot of work. Do the sail panels have to come out to fit it in? On my car it just looks like you have to unscrew these plastic pieces. But the rear windsheild's gonna be out for repairs, so that might help a bit.
You have to remove the side panels in order to remove/insert the package tray . I ordered a deluxe package tray and a trunk divider here in Quebec i hope I could get it at the end of the month ... hope it fit like a glove ! Take care of the package tray corners and sail panel lenses too , if your's are done or cracked/faded you could buy Duane's repro . :TU:
package tray Here is a link about when I changed my package tray: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=104622 I included a pic of the newly installed package tray in the link. I bought it from Year One (they got it from REM). Mine is the deluxe version with mesh and speaker holes (bought the jute seperately). The color is not the same - I ordered sandalwood (the original was dark sandalwood) and I got a much lighter shade. I opted not to paint the new package tray the darker sandalwood because the new one lightened up the back of the interior and I liked it. One of the package tray shelf corners broke when being removed so I ordered new ones from Duane - I highly recommend them from him as they are stronger. Just got in the correct paint and now I am painting the new package tray shelf corners as well as making a Buick 8-track cd player so I can finally play some cds!
Thanks for all the info Donald and Chris. Any tips on getting the side panels out? Now that I'm really looking at it, it this is turning into a much bigger project than I wanted it to be.
Too bad my english was not that good that would be more easy to explain  1- Took the bench (the 2 parts) out that will reveal 2 screws that hold the rounded "metal" things (who is itself screwed to the "ashtray panel" . I call it ashtray panel because i don't know the real name in english :error:  2- on the front of the "ashtray panel" you have 2 small screws . That's it ! Now the "ashtray panel" is out !! tadam ! Next the side panel but first do you have the sail panel lights like I do have on my picture in precedent message ?
Yes I have the lights Donald, they're in good condition so I don't think I need Duane's repro's. Will they create a problem getting the side panels out? Also I got the package tray today and its not an EXACT replica, but hey now I can put in rear speakers if I want.
No, but it looks bigger than what's in there, but its probably just a matter of not seeing it in the car yet. I'll test fit it tomorrow but probably won't start removing everything until this weekend. I'm really hoping that I'll find the build sheet under the seat when I take it out :Brow:
No , the most "difficult" is to get the 38 years old lense out without damaging them Once the lenses are out you'll have to unscrew the plastic part and pass it throught the hole in order to get the panels out , and the window crank handle . Then it clip on the top . I hope mine would be there next week-end :Brow: I've found this on the rear bench !
That's really cool Donald. Did you decode it yet? I've tried getting those lenses out before and they're really in there good, but they'll come out eventually.
You should post that picture of the tags under the "Paper Trail" to get some help decoding them and see what you learn. :TU:
The code on the larger tag are the very same RPO code that I got from GM Canada with my VIN ... perfect match :TU: The only difference is # 209 and the # 400402 on the "wanna be" build sheet , didn't found anything yet for those ... Found one under the front bucket seat too ! Correct 44437 for the bucket ! I allready started a post in the paper trail : http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=102056
What color you finally bought ? I think your interior is Buckskin like mine . I just check Chris' sandalwood and it look not bad at all for buckskin replacement if not available .
