Looking into recovering my seats. Front and back. Who has the better quality covers in the market? Also thinking about doing them myself. Having them sent is becoming very expensive. Never recovered seats before. How difficult?

If you do the seats, go ahead order door panels also for a good match

Legendary X2 . Foams from American Cushions - shop around for price. Watch a few you tubes for A bodies. Not terrible. Lots of hog rings and some good hog ring pliers. The hardest thing I found was the listing wires. Search on the board for tips.

Yeah. Called on some estimates on having them done and it’s hovering around $5000.00. Good grief!

I bought the covers and took them to a local upholsterer (mostly does boat seats but also does some old cars); he charged me 300/seat for buckets. He fixed the broken springs and added new cushions also.

I had new legendary seat covers installed on my front bench seat with armrest and rear seat last November cost $800 to install. IMG_1783.jpeg IMG_1788.jpeg

Stage 2. Looks freaking awesome dude. Beautiful.

So I’m looking to order the covers. I think I’ll do the back first. Then the front maybe during the winter. Can anyone tell me what else I’m going to need before I order to do this job myself?

You need the color the year and the code on your trim tag? There has been a lot of complaints lately about legendary. Their quality isn’t as it used to be with the covers being short a the seams not straight, guess it depends who put them together. I would order them all now because you’re gonna have a long wait. Another thing with legendary you have to pay upfront and when you do receive your covers check them out real good for seems being straight in the seat not short on the bottom.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention contact Todd GS here on the board. He is a dealer for legendary. He may be able to get you a little better price. That’s who I went through for the legendary covers.

Todd Miller is the way to go, I second that.

Also, check with Legendary, that have a program where you send them your seats and they rebuild, recover them and ship them back to you.
Last time I checked, their hourly rate was $85 an hour.

Sure beat what I paid, $140 per hour and had a crappy installer, they had to redo the rear seat cover, too many wrinkles.
I found out they normally farm out interior work to a "professional" shop, so to save money, they decided to do my car.
I ended up sending pictures of my interior installation to legendary and they sent me instructions on how to do it right. I passed that onto the shop.
Again, I learned the hard way.
