Hello, I did the swap on my skylark this week. All went smooth or so I thought. Upon start up I have a rattle that goes away when I depress the clutch and when the car is in gear. Please help. Background info 300 motor with BW T-10 4speed. Parts for conversion are from donor vehicle same make model year. Thanks, Robert
New release bearing? Can you check the air gap? (Distance from the face of the bearing to the fingers on the pressure plate). Can you isolate approximately where the sound is and can you get a video from different areas to capture the sound? Rattle can be many things, from a bad bearing, to gearbox rattle, shifter rattle and other things.
Do you have the spring on the outer edge of the clutch fork? When you put the clutch fork on the ball inside the bell housing did it snap on firmly or was it sloppy? If not those things, it could be throw out bearing as mentioned above or something inside the trans. Was the trans rebuilt? When you push the clutch in all the gears in the trans stop turning.
thanks, After speaking with a forum member I'm pretty sure its internal T-10 issue. I have video with sound if interested. I can text to you Thanks, Robert
My 4 speed conversion is finished. I had a internal issue with my BW T-10. If anyone is looking for a rebuild on a manual tranny I highly recommend Larry Fischer from D&L transmissions Long Island N.Y. The entire conversion was about a 20 hour job. My 1965 Skylark is now a blast from the past, It is fun to drive. I've attached a few pics from the transformation. If anyone is considering a 4 speed conversion, I say it is worth it!
