Dennis just built a transmission for me for the 69 Stage1...same rod finish...I also questioned him about the coating. Terry, this effort is fantastic. I wish one part of my car would look as good as your parts! I look at this thread as a lesson.
Thanks Ted, appreciate it. Dennis is a wealth of info on 4 speeds, cool to talk with him so knowledgeable on 4 speed stuff. I hope to get the GTO done by him if he does not retire before then.
hows everything going on the car? man when that things done itll be one good lookingf tire cooking buick!!
I apologize to the people watching this thread and keeping up with the progress. After the glass insulation and top weatherstrip from the last post everything just started to move, car had to go places and back, etc. I really wanted to get the car done for a local car show on October 6th and make the nationals so I was busy. I got pics of everything but just did not get a chance to post the progress. The car is FINISHED and for those going to BG you can see it there. Once I get back I will load all the other progress pictures to show the completion quite a few pics.
Looking forward to seeing this one and meeting Terry. I did get a few "sneak peek" pics from Terry, everyone is going to love this car. Duane
Congratulations on getting it finished. For us that are not going to the Nationals please post pics of the car done.
Terry: First, incredible & beautiful resto. Words cannot do it justice. I hope to get to see it someday. Did you re-create the lettering on the dash bezel? I need to do a '70 with the black (sans woodgrain) and was trying to figure out how to re-create the lettering short of finding an NOS or super nice used bezel. I wish I'd had the foresight to offer you the NOS speedometer I sold last year (I'd have probably donated it to the cause) but I don't think I realized exactly how detailed and how much stuff you already had for this build.
Dano, thanks for the comments. I had the bezel re-chromed and painted by Chome-Tech who unfortunately is not in business anymore he retired and I think mine could have possibly been one of the last ones done. He called me and told me to send it because he was retiring and not doing these again. Others have had painted them with awesome results, Duane or Nick restored his 69 and it looks great. My speedometer was very nice but I probably would have bought it and used it but the original cleaned and detailed up very nicely.
Thanks - I'll have take a closer look. The lettering is what has me stumped. Wish I was going to be in BG this week to see the car and meet you.
I just reread this whole thread after seeing the car in Bowling Green. The pictures here document an amazing attention to detail and a level of restoration (and use of NOS parts) that’s just crazy. The pics of the car don’t do justice to how nice and pretty it is. Congrats on the job and the Gold. I’m in awe. I hope this car gets recognized in print and or events like MCACN; it earns it! Patrick
