got a 73 century, with some goodies. read the bottom. things have changed a little. holley is gone. q-jet is back on. the regulator i had was f'ed up. put new one on, an boom! good to go.pulls greart all the way to 5200,5500. also the 3500 isgone, too. went a little smaller.2800 now. ive been try to get ahold of ruggles high performance with no luck. period. so i was hoping someone here could help. i am planning on running a 75 shot of nos this summer. i would like to richen the carb up a little. i need to know what metering rods i have, and what to put in. i have 2 carbs here. the one thats on the car works great. #17085431--3058. also have one that needs rebuilt #170443251rb--0263. the latter is off my olds 455. which would be better?IS the olds one a 750 or 800? i dunno.prefer to do the one on the car now.also i woudl like the secondaries to open a bit qiucker, if at all possible. any help would be great, an feel free to pm me if you prefer. thanks big john

I see nothing indicating the cam used, so I cannot comment of the combo. 10:1 comp is pretty high for nitrous, especially in pump gas. Not knowing what metering rods are in the carbs you intend to use (they are likely not stock,) I suggest going with smaller metering rods by at least .002 to .004, and consider going down by a couple of letter specs on the hanger. You ask a lot from the air intake system, which is likely already restrictive. How do you plkan to control the advances in the nitrous stage? If the combo is working correctly now, you are likely in the 300-325 hp range, but I do not see enough info to judge. Ray

gotcha. i'll answer as best i can. cam is a comps 268h. the carb that on the car now, is a napa rebuild from years ago. got new in the wrap. only work that was done as far as i know was primaries were tweeked. ZERO hesitation and transition to 4-barrels is flawless. stock 70 intake that has been decked and gasket matched to heads, 3 angle on heads, minor port work, and it is a ram air set up. scoop is fully functionable. my builder seems to think that sence we did go bigger and better than 70 specs of 315 horse, in the welm of 345 or so. car weighs 4600 with me in it an has ran 14.70s.as i stated, im only wanting to run a 75 shot of nos, its the neeky pete system, so no plate or anything. arm, point and shoot. i hope this helps.

Not being sure of the metering components in the secondaries, (that is where most of the fuel will come from at WOT,) it will be necessary to assure that the nitrous does not cause a lean out. Bearing in mind that the O2 content of nitrous is as high as it is, extra fuel must be supplied to keep the mixtures from leaning out and causing a catastrophic failure. It will also increase the dynamic compression of the cylinders, (you are adding volume to the mixture), requiring the knock suppression in the fuel. It may be necessary to use supplemental fuel in the air cleaner as a spray. Just food for thought. Since you are increasing both compression and O2, the fuel must be ready.
