Were thinking about putting a 6 or 8 point cage/bar in my dads 67 GS400. ? is when installing the bars do they have to pass through the floor and be welded to the actuall frame? Or can 1/4 in 6x6 plates be welded first to the floor pan, then the bars get welded to the plates.
Seems like alot of the floor would have to get cut and removed to provide access to weld to the frame.
Thanks in advance for any info or advice.

If a car has a frame, the roll cage must be attached to the frame. Unibody cars use a 6" square x 1/8" thick plate welded to the sill of the body or a plate top and bottom of the floor bolted with at least (4) 3/8" bolts.
