Is it possible to adapt the Rover V8 timing cover to a 1965 Buick 300? I suspect no, but I am asking for a Buick Owner in Spain, on another Buick Board. https://buickforums.com/forums/threads/noisy-hydraulic-lifters-in-a-65-skylark-300ci.62693/
The short answer is Yes. But it depends on which Rover. The earlier ones such as the 3.5L will work fine although the timing marks will probably not line up with the damper. The later serpentine models would be difficult due to the concentric oil pump. Probably could be done but may require machining of the crank and extra pieces. The intermediate covers would vary between those two extremes. Jim
Land Rover discovery front cover has ability to use distributor. Have to mill slots in front of crank for woodruff key to drive oil pump. Much better oil pump tho. Misaligned timing marks are a trivial issue. How often do they truly line up anyway?
There are many ways to do a mix-n-match combo. Late Rovers were serpentine with a reversed water pump. V6 stuff also works. Jim
