I think I need to adjust my throttle cable a little but I am not sure. Whenever I let off the throttle RPMs doesnt immediantely come back down like it should.

Im using a aftermarket throttle cable bracket because I have a 1" spacer. Both carb and spacer are new.

Do I need to move the throttle cable towards the front of the car more (there is about a 2" adjustment for the mounting point, I have it in the middle right now)

I think it might be more likely that the throttle blades may be hanging up on the spacer. Take the spring off and work the throttle back and forth, see if you can detect any sticking point.

Do like Larry says, I had a 2in on mine before with no problem wit hthe throttle cable. And did have just what Larrys says happen. A new gasket I had was a bit tight at first, iahd to by hand make it got back and forth from closed to WOT several times to losen up the slight drag the gasket made.

Something else to consider here is the possibility of the throttle return spring not being strong enough to overcome the incoming air flow's effect on the blades. Is the idle normal when you restart the engine without touching the throttle? Other possibilities include a binding throttle shaft or linkage, or the secondary throttles not closing completely. Still other possibilities include a sticking timing advance, either vacuum or centrifugal. ANYTHING that has a direct effect on the engine speed can cause an inconsistent idle. PM me with questions.
