the other day i was out in my car it was about 94 deg out with about a heat index of 104. I was driving on the highway and it ran about 190. I have 180 therm. in it. When i got to town and stop and go traffic, it was about 210.

I am running a Spal 16" electric fan on a Griffin Alum Raditor. I think the problem is it has no shroud. Also, I couldn't fit a clutch fan in the 65' Skylark, the ol BBB is just too big! between the raditor and waterpump pulley there is about 3 inches.

What do you suggest I do? Go for a 160 thermostat, rig a shroud, I would really like a cowl hood, that would get some of that heat from out of the engine compartment.

    thanks

    Gotta get a shroud.

A 160 tstat is not going to help your overheating issue. It may hurt more than anything.

The only way to keep the engine cool in traffic is to get the air directed to the specific spots you want it to go (through the radiator). A shroud will probably help more than anything.

    Hey Bryan,
I had a problem with heating up also, so I got a griffin alum. rad, a duel flexalite electric fan, put a 160` thermustat in ( no fan shroud ) added water wetter AND went back from under drive pulleys to factory stock ratio pulleys. I've been in traffic jams idleing and creeping along for over an hour with the outside temp. at over 100` and my motor temp. never went over 200`.
