ive got a 1985 Buick Park Avenue with a 307 Olds and a quadrajet. i replaced 4 feet of rusty fuel lines(main and return) with rubber line. the car runs for about 5 minutes then acts like it is out of gas and dies. it wont start, and i dont see any gas coming from the squirters. i can get it running by priming the carb but it runs like crap, like its missing real bad. i wait an hour and it starts right up and does the same thing. i pulled the one main hose off and just a tiny bit of gas came out from the tank, and it was sort of nasty looking. i dont think the pump is bad because i dont think it would even run at all. any ideas what the problem is? im thinking dirty gas tank is full of trash and the sendiong unit is clogged.,but if anybody has better idea, please let me know.
Yes it certainly can be the fuel pump. Pumps are cheap, just change it. It's a pain in the butt on the 307. I've had bad fuel pumps do the same thing. Make sure the tank is being vented and the pump isn't creating a vacuum.
