    Hi,
Wondering if anyone has ever put a buick 350 carb on a buick 455 carb? Would it work or maybe just something to get by for awhile..Thanks..

I assume you mean a 350 carb on a 455. Lots of people do it. The difference is mainly in the idle circuit so typically they are hard starting and idle a bit rough. However, they can be set up to minimize any problems.

    Hey Bill..Another Question

    Hey thanks Bill,
One more thing..You said its all in the set up for the 350 to 455 swap..Is that something I can do at home? Or does that mean changing out a bunch of parts and so on to make it right..Thanks..

I understand that q jets are easy to work on...never done it myself. So, yes you can do it at home if you have some mechanical knowledge. Start a new thread and ask the board for help! ie: "Need help - how to set up a 350 carb for a 455"

    350 carb on big block

My '68 came with a 350 carb on the original big block. I don't know how it got there.

I ran this carb for several years, both on the 400 and the 455 I rebuilt for the car. I eventually bought an 800 CFM carb from Norm Dihle.

The car never ran the way I wanted it to with the 350 carb. You can change jets, metering rods, springs or whatever, but the big block carb has different idle air bleeds and idle fuel passages. I had to drill holes in the throttle plates to get the car to idle, and the idle mixture screws never did anything. The carb I have now works better, but I still have some work to do to sort it out.

I recommend that you get Doug Roe's book on Rochester carbs if you're going to mess with this kind of carb swap. It's available on Amazon for less than $20.

I've run 71 and older 350 carbs on my 455's with no problems. The 72 and newer 350 carbs have idle and transition passages that make them hard to properly tune for a 455.
