I am restoring a 72 gs 350. I am the second owner and bought the car back in 1985 when it was just an old car. its got 72k on it and is very original. First owner did not modify it in any way.

Its antique gold, built in Flint. sold in Atlanta by D.L. Claborn.

The fiberglass part of the scoops on my car have always been black. they do not look like they have ever been painted.

What is the correct color for the scoops? I see many cars on various sites and at shows that have them painted body color. I also see cars with black but they always seem to be 350 cars. Never 455 or Stage 1.

Car currently for sale on this site, 72gs by Topcat is a perfect example. There is a great picture of the scoops and they are black.

Wondered if its a gs350 thing or maybe which plant the car was built at.

Any help or advice would be great.

Some 72s hads black scoop inserts, some had body color. It varied by plant; don't recall which plants did body color and which did black.
