What are they paying for scrap in your area. I have an 88 Caddilac I've been saving for the scrap rate to go up. Half loads are on generally the rate would go up. Around $200/ton last year, $50/ton last month, $30/ton this month. Looks like I'll be hanging onto it for a while.

    $.04 a lb. here. So that's $160 for a two ton car.

    Still 50 a ton here.

Any idea what the going rate is in Texas? The Dallas area more specifically?

In Charlotte NC area, most are paying about $0.04/lbs for cars right now.

I hope that car isn't in your way, because scrap prices are going to get worse before they get any better. Everything I'm hearing says it probably comes off again next month.

I just got $55.38 for 1420 lbs. It was a skylark frame and body without engine, trans, or rear. No doors or front clip. That's 3.9 cents which confirms what Fred said above. Charlotte area.

$2 - $3 per 100 lbs........but you get a lil extra if the car has cat converters......they give $50 extra...they make a killing on recycling them.

This is the rate for FL....last year they were up to $14/100 lbs.

Last fall one of the big yards here told us they were getting $20/ton, but that the metal guys didn't even want any cars at all right then-looks like things are about the same-

Currently $40.00 per ton ,some places only pay a flat rate of $80.00 for whole cars here in Lansing,MI. Last summer I was getting $300.00 per ton. Hope prices go up.
