Hey all, just wondering if anyone knows of any vintage scrapyards in Ontario. I'm looking for sheet metal for my 67 skylark. I've been to a few but the only skylark I found is crazy rusted!!! Please help!

    Hi,
    Welcome to V8 buick
Your going to have a hard time finding good parts, everything that old in a yard was crushed years ago. Usually anything left lying around like in a farmers field is so rotted out you have to pick up in a wheel barrow. The best thing to try is keep your eye on Kijij for someones abandoned restoration, or put feelers out in the parts wanted on V8 Buick and of coarse keep and eye on ebay.
    take care

Most of the stuff you can find here in Ontario will definetly not be rust free due to our severe winter conditions, with a minimum of exceptions, plus the fact that a lot of the good yards in Ontario have closed down or are long gone thanks to environmental regulations. In addition, as Bruce stated, a lot of the older cars have been crushed as the prices for scrap metal reached premium prices.
Your best bet for acceptable, useable parts sources are probably from southern 'rust free' suppliers. :TU:

Thanks Gents. Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for parts around here.

Most of the real good Buick stuff in this yard is well picked Azeem, and a lot of the cars have gone to the crusher - suberbia has crept right next to the yard, and the real estate is worth way more than the junked cars on it, but it will probably cost a potential developer a small fortune to properly convert the property to existing environmental standards, after many years of junk yard use. :TU:

that was the case in in 06 as well. No GS specific stuff there but he still had some junk engines, and some good interior stuff.

a couple of years ago, when the price of scrap steel was so high, the scrap yards started to bale up all the older & oldest cars to sell to japan, etc.
    money talks.

There is one north of Melbourne about 5 kms. It is north of C.R # 14.

Where are you located ? I have seen a few cars sitting in my travels.

But like the other guys said Canuck stuff is usually rusted bad ! I would strong recommend to find SW USA parts ( Nevada, Arizona, West Texas) for the real end of day cost it is cheaper than rust repair.

    Kijiji surfing may help.

I'm just outside of Cobourg, its about an hour east of T.O. But please if you've seen some around, do tell us about them, I'm always looking for a road trip! Also, how would you go abouts getting southern parts. I've tried tons of sites in the U.S. but no one seems to have anything, or be willing to ship.

you can call these guys, they are in Mn. but bring southern USA cars in often maybe they can help you out and ship something out to you. I've bought cars/bodies and misc stuff from them?

I'm looking for some quarter panels... Don't care if they've got some rust, just looking for something that I can save/repair. When i first got my skylark I bought those POS quarters from cross canada parts, and I cut out my old ones before I saw how crappy the skins really were. (Bad Move!) So now I'm just looking high and low for something I can use.
