    Hi Everyone...

My search resumes for a 1996 Roadmaster Estate Wagon with the V-90 tow package...looking for something with fairly low mileage, prefer tan interior and woodgrain, but will consider any combo with the right equipment and mileage. If anyone has one, or sees / hears of one, please let me know. Thanks a million.

For the record, the V92 (not V90 as stated) trailer package on LT1's always includes VO8 belt driven fan, & at least GW9 2.93 gears but does NOT always include G80 posi,

Other popular codes associated with the V92 option are G67 (auto-level), FE2 (handling suspension), KC4 & KD1 (trans & engine oil coolers - I forget which is which).

94-96 Roadmaster prices are the lowest I've seen them in the 5 years I've been playing / watching so you should be able to find a good low mileage one for under 8K

Equipped this way, they were factory rated to tow 5,000#. Interestingly....the Fleetwood cousin with 3.42 gears but pretty much identical elsewise was rated to 7,000# with just the gearchange.

Thanks Alan for the correct code. I have in my notes V90, but what the heck, I've been know to be wrong in the past.... What I'm finding, right now at least, is these are in the 8-12k range with 100k miles and without trailer towing. I just need to find the right one at the right price.

Todd - I would not be afraid of a 94-96 RoadMonster with 100K or more that has repair/dealer paperwork from the original owner and came from a salt-free climate. My '94 has over 150K on it and actually runs stronger than the '95 :Do No: ....noticably too !! Taxi cab LT1 Caprices were known to see 300 and even 400K without a rebuild :eek2:

Also - the 94 and 95 cars used ODB-I computers where the 96 uses odb-II which is more stringent to pass emissions tests.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I wanted a Roadmonster when I bought my Bravada, now I want to get a Roadmonster and replace the Bravada. The truck is great for towing, don't even know my camper is behind me, but I'm tired of the 16-17 MPG (combined) NOT TOWING, and 14 towing. And I can't get anything longer than about 6 feet inside without leaving the hatch open. So with a Roadmonster, I get my towing, my luxury, my mileage and capacity for 4 x 8 plywood. I would then get a Century or similiar for daily driving. I think this is going to be a long haul finding something in good condition considering these are 10-12 years old!

The only time you'll see better than 16-17 in a RoadMonster is on the open road. I'll let you know tonite when I fill up (Tues. 6 cents off premium day) what I avg. this week of combined driving.....on the open road I've gotten a best of 24 @ 70-75......usually lower but above 20. If Im beating the snot out of the LT1 (Hard NOT to do :Brow: ) Im usually in the low to mid teens.

While they advertise a 4x8 sheet fits inside, you have about 1/4 to 1/8th of an inch on either side and the front seat has to be almost ALL THE WAY up to close the gate. I've done it.....Im 5'7" @ 175# and its no fun driving that way. thank heaven Home Despot is only 3 miles away :Dou:

Have you visited the ImpalaSSforum.com Wagon section ?? Alot of people are recently getting great cars for 5-6K
