Doing a make over on the int of the Wildcat. Have the buckets completely disassembled. Have sand blasted the parts and repainted the seat back and side covers to the new color but the tracks and feet were black. Should it go back to black or the new int. color. Seats, carpet, dash all red with black stitching. Thanks.
The tracks were probably black regardless of the color of interior. I guess it's personal preference. If the carpet is going red too, the tracks would blend in more if painted red
I think I would still go with black. It kind of mutes the fact that they're even there. I think they would stick out more if painted the color of the interior.
Originals were not black. They may have had a light plating of phosphate or metallic but I never saw any black in them. I have broken down a ton of seats and they are usually rusty. No trace of paint of any type.
Pretty sure the actual feet part were painted when I removed it but from the mounting point up where it was covered with the trim and fabric was bare rusty metal. Sandblasted the entire frame, re crimped all the spring connections then etched primed / painted the entire part.
Not sure what years people are familiar with? I can tell you for certain as a hobby going to junkyards for years as well as stripping cars and removing bench and bucket seats from GM A bodies I never say one that had painted feet. Most had various levels of dusty rust. No remnants of paint at all.
The OP is talking about a Wildcat. I don’t know what they did for them, as they were a higher dollar car then an A-body. I do know the A-bodies were not painted. Duane
