What seatbelts are you guys using for your 1972 Skylarks? I'm deciding which ones I should get but I don't know how they will look, or if they are reliable.
I thought they were only lap belts, but as I went back to look at my car, they actually were roof mounted. thats my bad.
Yeah, the roof belts interlock with the lap belt before attaching to the center. (As you have found out.) However, there ARE aftermarket conversions available to make it into an updated standard 3-point system. Just look for a kit for a Chevelle (OUCH)
I ordered a retractable 3 point belt set from Seat Belts Plus. I think it was little over $200. It’s not obvious using the online selector but you can get them with GM buttons that look pretty factory. I called and talked to an actual person to make that happen. My car is definitely not factory original and having more modern style seatbelts is a lot more convenient than the 1972 “assemble it yourself “ 3 point belts. Just makes it that much easier to jump in and drive the old girl.
