Secondaries on 4BBL working now..BUT.....?

    Stg1Regal Yep Traction Issues!:)

    A while back I posted about not getting my secondaires to open on my Q-jet.

    Well now they do...found out that the plastic sleeve at the end of the throttle cable needed trimed back some and I did the fishing weight trick on the pedal side.
    ( again thanks for the info):TU:

    Now.... It still dosen't "announce" it self loudly, I hear something, and when standing on it from a rolling low speed, it seems to want bog and break up like it's missing or something.

    One thing tho I do know I really need to do is recurve that dist, a freind of mine looked at it a while back and said it wasn't advancing all the way in full throttle.(it's an HEI}

    Short of that , is there any thing else to consider?

    Other than those problems...she really gets up and moves when going to pass, merging on the hiway in ft on those rigs, no problem.

    Once again thanks for getting me and this car, this far.:grin:

    You could try adjusting the secondary air valve spring. It's on the back right (passenger side) of the carburetor. You should see a slotted head screw. Below, and aiming up, there should be a set screw. I think it's an allen head style, but I can't exactly remember.

    You'll want to put a slotted screwdriver in the tension screw (and hold it still), then loosen the set screw. Imagine the slotted screw head as the face of a clock. Then either loosen or tighten in "5 minute" increments. This spring controls the tension on the top valve plate of the QJet secondaries. Looser will allow it to open earlier. Tighten will slow it down. You may want to try tightening first to see if cures your bog/stumble problem.

    Also, you may want to mark a line on the screw for your starting position relative to carb body somewhere. That way you know how far you're going and where "0" was originally.

    Good luck.
