I had an idea to have my son sit in the car and hold the throttle wide open, then I put a screwdriver in the slot on the shaft and turned it counter clockwise until the throttle blades were vertical. When I started it I noticed I went to far,now I can't get it back. :spank: o No:
The secondary air blades should be adjusted with the engine off. And should have enough tension that they will close easily and have some tension. Usually start at about a turn and a half when they will close on their own. They won't open up when you rev it in park, but maybe a little. They need some resistance to work the best. they will open up under a load.
it was off,the lower set stays partially open the linkage from the primary is fine I was able to turn it clockwise but I can't go the other direction, I can push them closed fom the top but they spring back
The linkage connecting the primary to the secondary throttles is what controls the secondary throttle position, sounds like you bent it out of whack. Either that or you've bent the secondary throttle shaft itself (not good). Not a good idea to twist on the end of the shaft.
