I had this built by a board member and everything opened perfectly when I first got it.

Im no expert on these things but I do have Cliff Ruggles book and it looks like all the linkage is there. But at wide open throttle the secondaries stay closed and I am not sure why. Any suggestions? If anyone could explain exactly what happens to get them to open that would help.
I know on the drivers that at about 2/3 throttle it start to hit that tab that should operate the secondaries, but the only way I can get them open is to move the piece on the passenger side.

Could something have come loose? Any help would be appreciated. If i could get the secondaries to open it would be running perfectly.

Well after some research it was the secondary lock out. From what im reading is should come down by gravity but looks like it needs a spring to come to where it needs to be in a resting state.

The secondary lock out tangs are only suppossed to be engaged when the choke is engaged. Is you choke working correctly?

If you're testing this with the car off, it will not work. Car needs to be running and at temperature for the choke to disengage. Then the lock out tangs should be retracted to allow the air flap to open.

Working off of memory here so reference Cliff's book to be sure.

Remove The Lockout Tang And Throw It In The Garbage. Resume Having Fun.

Phil It really *is* a 350...

    LOL!

On mine, I actually removed the seconday lockout, the choke, and everything else except the spring to regulate the secondary air valve, but I wouldn't advise that unless you have a lot of patience, do a lot of fine tuning and heavy throttle driving. Mine was perfectly tweaked for a 3.70 rear end and when I went to a 3.42 it thew it all off. :(
