HELP, the secondary air valves on my Q-Jet (it is a '72 750cfm) seem to be sticking/binding at about 75-80% OPEN, which is causing some problems at WOT. I don't see anything that it could be hanging up on (cleaned & sprayed w/carb cleaner & air) and it seems to be adjusted properly. Is it possible the shaft is bent? This carb was rebuilt in Aug.2004, and worked fine until recently, hasn't been off the car or fiddled with until now. Any suggestions/comments are most welcome. Thanks

Pat the top may be warped. Check between the two secondary air valves where the shaft goes thru. If it's hanging up there it still can probably be fixed.

Thanks Jude, I guess that's a possibility. What I found so far, was if I break the attaching screws loose & tweak them a little all seems OK, so I'm gonna go with that right now & see if it holds up, otherwise I'll have to take it apart & check for warpage!

If you push them open by hand do they snap shut?

Now they do. It looks like air valve flap on the right side was binding (since the rebuild) and some minor adjustment was all that it needed!
