No not at this time, I wanted to give the seller a fair chance to do the right thing here...I am on a arbitration committee on another board where there are huge volumes of sales on the classifieds and we deal with this sort of stuff on a somewhat regular basis. I find that w/ the right approach they usually will do the right thing. This one is probably going to work out ok...looks like the seller is going to honor the original deal. If it doesn't work out that way, I will post the deal
ive actually broke even or lost money honering my price quotes.dont quote untill you know.hope it works for you:beer
I too have lost money on shipping. I try not to quote now until I have things boxed and weighed as packaging can get costly as well if you estimate low in the beginning. I'm sure you have an idea of how much shipping should be for whatever it is you purchased, and how you expect it to be packaged. On the flip side I hate paying someone $10 for shipping then see the label say it cost them $4 to ship it!
If your paying the actual shiping charges that the seller is getting charged, I would probably pay it. But it wouldnt sit well with me. He'd probably get a neutral feedback from me as a result. Before you send any more money, ask him some particulars. Like the shipping method he's using, the exact wieght and dimensions of the package and the zip he's shipping from. Go to the shipper's website and plug in the info. See if he's BSing you.
I feel if I underquote a shipping cost its my problem not the buyers. He might have looked up the shipping cost and forgot to add in packaging and transportation to the post office or UPS drop off and decided to try and recoup his losses. Poor planning on his part. Bob H.
I sell a fair amount on ebay. I always quote up front what my shipping costs are going to be if fixed, or I tell people to email me for an accurate cost if it's a large and/or heavy item. My personal opinion is that if HE quoted you a price and you both agreed upon it, then that's on him to eat any difference. That's what I do if I underquote someone as I see that as my fault. If you really need the item, then you may have to pay up. But if you don't need it, I'd ask for my money back. Or ask for an accurate shipping quote and tell him you'd like the dimensions and weight and shipping method to verify the cost.
Yep, me too. I agree here, too. I agree here, too. The only ONLY time I ever re-open the negotiation for shipping is when I am combining shipping on multiple items (ie, that weren't specified in the original auction). If the deal is set then I honor it (I am predominantly a seller, by the way). Humor me while I tell a short story: I ate some shipping on some side pipes one time. I was able to get them boxed into a single box, but it had a little "bump" on one end. I estimated the shipping based on the size and weight using the UPS website and sent that number as a quote (like $30, I think it was). The problem was, when I went to ship it, that little "bump" on one end sent it into a different class, and the actual shipping was like $120! OUCH. I did some scrambling, and was able to get it down some by using Fed Ex, but I ate a bunch on that one.... Sorry - carry on - K
I don't sell alot of things on ebay, but if I give someone a firm quote on shipping, and it turns out to be more...my loss, I eat it. On the flip side, I do get a little PO'd when I see that I paid X dollars for shipping and it's considerably less. :af: Steve 72 vert undergoing frame off restro
I got the part the other day after I said, get me my part or send me my $$$ back...the shipping was $6.25 for this item. Since I posted this, a few others have pm'd me w/ the same person doing this to them only w/ different reasons each time. Hopefully the possibility of being outed has him changing his ways. Simple fact is this, if you quote a shipped price, that is what it is.
Gonna chalk this one up to a guy with LOTS of good parts and lots of people buying from him. Sounds like he got a deal mixed up w/ mine...honest mistake on his part. FWIW, the part I bought from him was in great shape and better than he described. Wade
I undercharges big time when i sold my ac unit and only charged 50 and the shipping was actually over $110. A deal is a deal. I dont think you should have to pay more.
I sell on ebay and find that I post a fixed price.. that way they know up front what it cost if they dont like my price for shipping they can bid less on the item. I have lost money on shipping but I also have made money on shipping so I think it all comes out in the end. Glad to see this worked out.
