Setting blocks with front and rear window?

After watching a few videos some folks say you need setting blocks for both the front and rear glass sonthe window is at the the right height in the channel so when the trim is attached its at the right height as well. My rear has all the original studs and channel looks good. The front has had a little work but for the most part the depth of the channel looks factory.

1) do you use setting blocks for the height from top to bottom or just use these bottom adjusters?

2) have you found you need setting blocks for the window "depth/height" in the channel?

I am using urethane with foam damn.

The blocks are to prevent the window from sliding (creeping) down the opening after installation. Buick provided the blocks for the front window ( I see you have a set). I don't think the block was used as a gauge in any way. If using urethane the blocks are not needed after cure.

 

The 3M ribbon seal kits I have bought, have the setting blocks included. 5/16 inch is correct.

 

I used the bolt on metal setting blocks for the windshield and then the rubber blocks that came in the pack of butyl ribbon tape for the rear window. Essentially dry fit the windows to center then up and marked with blue tape so that when I set them back in, it lined up.

 

Thanks. What about the "depth" the window is in the actual channel? This pic shows setting blocks in the urethane to keep the consistent height/depth in the window channel.

Thanks! Yeah the depth. I’m trying to remember cause I had the same question. I only used the butyl and pressed the glass down and kind of eyeballed the height to the trim. I wanted to make sure I got a seal with the tape. I do have some space between my glass and trim in some spots. definitely don’t go past the trim pins. The trim clips just above those pins.

Worst is the front passenger corner. Ouch didn’t think it was that bad. I did have to drill and screw the trim pin though. Can’t see it without getting up on it. Driver upper corner not as bad.
