I've had to invest in safety gear since doing the Frank Hawley school. Im cool with the full fire suit( probably way hot in the summer) and the shoes are nice and comfy. Found out they wanted me to have a neck collar support which I do not like and gloves. So I bought all of the above - the collar and this makes it a real process getting into the car and ready for my run. If ya saw my last little vid when the track bar came apart one will notice Frank reminding me to put on the gloves. Simply forgot in the process of doing everything else. Also forgot to turn on the Gopro. So with the gloves on I dont have a good "feel" of what my hands are doing. One of the most noticable is the trans brake button which on this car is a very small little blue button on the wheel. Also the line lock on the shift knob. Im wondering if I could simply go michael jackson on the pointer finger or thumb of my R glove without there being a tech issue. Would hate to throw 50$ away with one snip of the scissors.
You cannot cut the gloves. You also need a hans device so start looking into that. That is new rule for 2024 if you go 150mph. So since that car has been 163 mph with the old setup I would put that on your list. They are about 450 from summit. John jr
Like John said, the hans device will be manditory for 150 plus.I have three buddies that all run foxbodies and all three will need them. Chris
I'm just planning on getting a hans device and helmet in case the inevitable happens. But,in reality,I won't be real upset if I have to have them.. I would shop around for a ifferent mount and button that you will feel comfortable with. There are tons of options out there.
Seeing as the only time this car will probably ever run the 1/4 will be at BG or one of the other Buick events. Everything here is all 1/8 mile and she's not gonna run 150 there. If it ends up I have to I will.
I have the biondo terminator transbrake button in my car now.you could use the palm of hand if you had to. It's adjustable, well sorta.
Yes a bigger button is the obvious answer. Cutting the tip off one finger is much quicker and easier!
Ok now...... Whats a jewish Buick guy sposed to look like? Need to get a little kippah for the top of my helmet? Just hope that ya never have to whip out the "proof "in public. Oy vey.
