Rob/Jim, Nice 350!! Have thought about going with a single plane intake for a small block chevy? That's what Sonny did and I think he was well over 500 hp. Keep up the good work.
You know, this thread is making me want to rebuild/build up my 350 instead of hunting for a 455... Great job supporting the "little" Buicks!
single plane intake Jim B. Is it feasable or even possible to use a mopar jd: ) single plane intake for a 383 or 360 and build some adaptor plates or maybe weld bottom and side plates for the 350?? It might be a nice way to get by until someone casts one. If it worked you could even use a tunnel ram then for some coolness!
Re: single plane intake I have not looked into adapting something else, I know Sonny Seal did something, but I don't have any details on it. Jim Burek
Jim - Have you tried one of those 'Super Sucker' style spacers? Or does the open spacer seem to be about it? If you were to try adapting one of the Chevy intakes, would you try a Victor Jr. or a Brodix SP-1? I know they seem to work very well for healthy SBC's. :TU: Glad to hear how well this Buick 350" is doing!!!:bglasses: :beer I don't think I've heard of anyone getting those kind of flow #'s on the 350" heads. Nice work!!:Smarty: :TU: Rob - You must be tickled to death!!
I don't have a super sucker on hand to try, so I am only testing with what I have. As far as a manifold, I have not looked into it yet, so I don't know , but something like a victor jr would work good, I would think. Jim Burek
Re: single plane intake Don, I talked to Sonny Seal about this awhile back and in all actuality this is what he did. He had adapter plates made so that he could run a small block Chevy intake on the car. At the time of the ''sb crash heard round the world'' he was running a tunnel ram. But he told me that he had another manifold waiting to run a dominator :eek2: . Unfortunately accidents happen and our fearless small block leader has had to start over. I never thought about a mopar intake. I have a few laying around too . May just have to take a look see at one. I have been thinking about this too lately. If I go sb I am gonna need a single plane. Don't want a dual plane disturbing any NOS flow....:Brow: later......................
would them intakes seal right [chevy , dodge] or would you need a vally pan? A pan might make it easier to adapt it without needing to worry about nothing but good flow.
Ok guys, Latest update on the little 350 Buick, we are now at , are you ready? 450 horsepower at 5400 rpm. It makes 441 torque at 4300, 446 at 5000 rpm and is still over 400 at the horsepower peak. We have tried various spacer combinations, the 2 inch open is by far the best, I tried a 4 hole on top of an open, power was down. The other testing tonite consisted of swapping on an 850 demon in place of the 1000 demon. We lost almost 20 horsepower with the smaller carb. We are still not done yet, but this littel 350 is gonna give some big block boys a serious run for their money. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES
:beer  All I can say is Damn, thats sweet, awesome, incredible! All that at "only" 5400rpm!!!!! and that torque, WOW!!! Keep it going Mark

Those are awesome numbers... How much were those Weisco Pistons? I really am considering just rebuilding my 350 to ~350-400hp region and would like forged pistons...
Do i dare ask how much it would be to duplicate this combination? i would also be using a 4 speed behind it and i would much rather build up a 350 instead of swapping to a big block. Bob
It's not cheap, but then probably not as expensive as you would think. Call me a t the shop to talk prices. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES 915-855-6009
Jim, can you give us an idea what Rob has in just the engine that you have built? Is it competitively priced with theh BBB so, let's say a guy like me would go with a combo like that instead of dropping in a BB? Would a guess at $6500 be close? At about what point do you think the heads will be the limiting factor, instead of the intake manifold? I would think that 450 on iron heads is just about all you can squeeze from them, even ported. That is still pretty impressive from a SBB! I think there are going to be quite a few stage 1's that are going to get run down by little brother.:TU: Mike:beer
Mike, you are pretty close. Depending on exactly how you wanted it set-up,, I would say anywhere from about $6000 to $7500 would get you a turn key. Carb through pan and headers.
