Thanks for the heads up on console pad from Cars- just getting ready to order seat covers and carpet. Didn't know they had the pads.
I purchased the repop padded lid a couple years ago and it was a nice reproduction but I found the indent for the emblem was a bit tight or small for the emblem to fit in. I did get it to fit but felt it might pop out.
As I posted, the top pad I got from CARS was vary nice, I'm pretty picky! The tri shield emblem Todd sells fits and looks great!
Yes, only offer the pad for the early Tri-Shield style pad (one of my few reproduction parts I bought) and the fit was horrible. At that time they did not offer the push button pad (don’t think they still do?) that came along at some point in 70. I am sticking with GM though for the Tri-Shield emblem as the repop required removing the factory steel backing plate and still was a mess unless they have corrected it though. Would love some used floor brackets though if anyone has all or part of them.
Five years ago so hopefully it has since been corrected but here is the repop I wasted money on from 2018 in case they design flaws have not been corrected. https://www.v8buick.com/index.php?t...m-the-parts-place-anyone.340301/#post-2873484
Got me curious so I grabbed my shorty and CARS lid I picked up at GS nats. Cars lid does not have a steel backing plate its made of plastic .You need to use sheetmetal screws not the factory screws as there too big and gouge a hole you don't want. Also cars lid is missing 2 screw holes easily drilled in the rear part of the lid.I also screwed one under the latch to to get a cleaner fit around the front. BUICK emblem will need to be glued using epoxy it's a bitch to remove but doesn't fit snug on cars lid.Overall I think it's a nice piece way better than the 1965 beat up lid.
