I am looking at putting on headers on my 70 455. My mechanic friend says shorty headers give less trouble and better ground clearance than long tube. Do long tube have better power characteristics? Anyone using shorty headers from TA
    Thanks

    Yes

Full length headers will give better results (in the higher rpm range). Jim W has posted results on his web page, and in here in the past. But it is NOT a huge difference from what I recall.:bglasses:

My brother has the TA shorties on his 69 GS400. They fit pretty well. He went that route for dround clearance and for a little extra room near the Z-bar (4 speed car).

the TA shorties fit great, no denting required for a 4 speed or an auto car... I love them!!

They do fit well, and I like mine alot. You will have to reroute your auto trans. cooling lines, you will have to modify or eliminate your starter heat shield, you may have to slightly reroute you passenger front brake line.
I'd recommend going to a mini-starter at the same time, eliminate any possible hot start issues.

Yes, I feel that they have better power. I think that's been proven. Less trouble? I wouldn't know, I didn't have any with long tube. Hooked right to TA's 3" exhaust system without any mods. Bolt on performance..
