Purchased new. 350 engine th 400 trans. 8600gvw. 130'000 miles. Runs moves no breaks lots of rust. Do I scrap it, part it out or fix the breaks and try to sell as a driver?
That's better then the Buchev's body when I first got it. The first body work that I did to it was to scrap the totally trashed bed and buy a new (aftermarket) one. Aftermarket doors are available as are fenders. I guess that it depends on how badly you want the truck, and what you paid for it. If there are parts there that will bring enough $$ to make a profit, it will avoid your taking on a significant project. Edit: I missed the part where you said you bought it new.
You purchased it new? I have a '92 F250 XLT Diesel/5-sp. w/some rust & needs engine work. 300k mi. but everything works & newly rblt. trans. I've owned it for 23 years & pretty sure I'm going to fix the engine & do the bodywork given the price of new (& used!) trucks plus w/all the gadgetry on new trucks.
That's what is sounded like. There's a square body site (at least one). I parted a '76 a long tine ago (late 80's) & sold some parts on there. Sokd some on eBay too. Ironically I just sold the last last parts I had hanging around from it (2 "Trailering Special" emblems) last month on eBay. Could list it in there too.
Fix the brakes and sell it. Some people love those things and it's much easier to sell(for more money too) when you can drive it.
