    Hey guys,

I met a guy who told me that he has many (doesnt know how much)
old NOS 4 bbl carbs at home. He wouldnt use them. But if I want them I can come and get them.
So I picked 5 carbs up.

I never saw this type of carb before.
Its a 4bbl spread bore with many part interchangable to the Q-jet.

    They are Solex 4A1
Yesterday I took one of them apart.
They will need some machine work to flow like a Q-jet because they were designed for smaller engines.
But in my oppinion its a real good carb:

    - Holley type acc. pump with adjustable volume
    - E-Choke with water temp. controled cold idle.
    - easy to change prim. jets and rods
    - ---- / / ---- sec. jets
    - replacing power piston spring without opening the carb.
    - electric controled "engine-Stop" valves which cut off the fuel if you turn off the ign.

    Very interesting carb.
Has anyone tried to use one of them?
Im not sure if I can get it to feed a 455.

I added some pics. Sorry, I wasnt able to find something in english.
If you want to know something, let me know and I will translate it.

Rolls Royce used to put one of them on their 6.75l V8´s from 1975 - 1980.
They also used a TH400 trans in those cars ;)
