I am building a 64 special. It is a back half car with the factory frame rails up front. I am concern on how my chassis man has my drive train set up. The motor is moved back and up from the stock position. I have a mid plate installed, one concern is 1" tubes from the frame with 1/4" plates to bolt directly to the block were the factory mounts would go. will this cause the cylinders to deform? the motor is a 464 filled with hard block and has a girdle. I want to add a front plate but how is the best way to attach it to the motor? One other concern on the drive train is the trans mount it also is solid. Is that ok or will I brake the tail shaft?

    Thanks Mike

The front motor plate is generally bolt to the front cover behine the water pump. The proper holes are needed to let the water pass thru. If your blocks are anything like an Oldsmobile block(thin and weak) yes, solid engine mounts in a high torque application can cause distortion. The trans mount should be a rubber or poly, so the transmission can have some deflection, unless you are going to a certified to roll cage. Frame twisting will be at a min. It generally isn't the tail housing that breaks, it is the case near the pump. Hope this helps.
