Just found a complete '72 grand Prix J in a local yard.I am going to relieve it of the power bucket seats, sport mirrors, and AM/FM stereo. Noticed a picked over '86 Grand National sitting nearby. No running gear, but some interior left and decent tailights. Also saw a '69 Skylark Sport Wagon setting up on a rack.I couldn't get a good look at it,though. It is wrecked in the front. I could tell from underneath that it has drum brakes,8.2 non posi,TH 350,350 engine w/ single exhaust. Setting up on a different rack,is a '66 Cutlass convertible smashed hard in the rear. The frame is bent on that one. Also, a '64 Chevelle SS very rotted, but noticed a 4 speed hanging in it.Engine is a 283 or 327. There is also a complete, running '65 Electra convertible.Really decent looking car,but they want $4,250. for it. Not exactly a junkyard price. Maroon with white top and interior in good shape.Nice bumpers too.

    Ted,
What yard has the 72 GP???? Does it have pw and pdl, tilt?

Also, the 69 Sportwagon should have a conv trans member in it.

Hey George, the GP has PW but no P locks or tilt. The column is gone and it wouldn't work in an A body anyways, too long.Column is the same as a 71-76 Riv though. No trunk opener either.I think that the disc brakes are still there.I'll ask about em when I go get the seats tomorrow.

No PW in the wagon. My friend has a junk 72 Vista Cruiser wagon that I think has PW. I will check with him and relay back.

    To Junkman

You list a 67 225. Do you have a decent front seat (bench) in black? Do you have a power window regulater for the front door?

The Electra I described is a '65 convertible. It is a nice looking car with a nice white interior and top.The chrome is nice and it runs and drives good.It looked like it needed a little body work and new paint. The regulator you need ,is this for a 4dr or 2dr?

    Ted:

What kind of interior parts are left in that 86 GN?
Steering wheel? Seats (front & rear)? Door panels? Interior trim (dash, inst. cluster, visors), Console? Does it happen to have the twilight sentinel option?
    Steering box?
    Parking lenses?
    Wheels?

    Thanks

Only sightly off topic, but, the steering column is too long for our A-bodies? I have one from a GP I hit at the yard a couple years ago I was going to use for a B/C swap.

The die cast trim by the left tail light ( the piece that ends the wood graining) is broken ,and the Sport Wagon name also is broken on my 69 Sport Wagon. Are they good? If so what will it cost to get them sent to Area code 48473?

I think the column fron 69-72 GP's are the same length(as 69-72 A body), just have to use the connecting shaft from the steering box to the steering column.

The '72 GP steering column is an A-body column, & is the exact same column as used in '71-72 Pontiac A-body. With correct tilt & turnsignal lever it would also be same as used in '69-72 Chevelle/Monte with auto transmission. Manual trans '69-72 Chevelle floorshift columns used the short "leg".

Skylark & Cutlass columns of same era have the fishmouth cut in the lwr bowl to clear the dash bezel. They also often have indicators reaching up into the guage cluster area.

Needing a B/C body column, one will need the correct B/C body column.

    Got Posi?

Roger (oPh) is correct on the column. I use the 69-72 GP columns all the time since most of the cars I find here are buckets and console and usually have tilt columns.

    Andy,
What year B/C column do you need. I can usually find those easily.

Oh man! I would really like that 65 electra convert. But don't go out of your way for me. Chances are I couldn't afford it anyway. But, if you happen to go and can take some pics.... well...
