    OK, hiya:)

I have tried contacting John Osbourne off and on since the winter. Either his e-mail addy has changed, his spam subtract software is filtering my e-mails, or he's read one of my wildly insightful and rational posts here and doesn't care for me.

In any case, I have been sitting on this Q-jet (well not really sitting on it, I own a chair) for too long.

It worked well for years, but some of the aluminum in the venturis has corroded a bit and there are some small pits there. I replaced the carb with an Edelbrock AFB clone at 800cfm on general principles years ago.

I miss the Q-jet's secondaries, I miss the Q-jet's center hung bowl (bad fuel slosh in the Edelbrock), and I think I'd actually get better performance AND fuel economy from the Q-jet.

I would love to have a Q-jet prepped by JO but it ain't happening, looks to me.

I used to be able to call a place around here and get a rebuilt carb for about 300 bucks. They haven't offfered this service for years. I have the skills to do up my Q-jet, but this car is a driver, and I don't want my learning curve on the carb screwing up the car I drive to work every day, as I learn the finer points of Q-jet design and rebuilding. I also have other things to do on the car rather than tweak carbs all weekend long:Dou:

Can anyone recommend a parts place that still offers the rebuild service at a reasonable price? Any carb shops in the eastern Massachustetts area that will do this for me? Also, i will need an electric choke for the carb, anyone know the part number? I imagine Edelbrock sells one for it's line of Q-jet replacements so I should check their website...

    Hey Chris-

I don't know if you've tried it, but John Osborne's phone number is 270-737-4467. Then again, he may have caller ID! LOL

    Good Luck!

Thanks, Ken. It would be too late, I think to have him do it...it's summer already, but calling him can't hurt.

In the meantime, any info on a carb shop is still appreciated

Here is his email address as of 6-30-04:

I think he is really busy, or something. There is always a long wait between our emails.

Shipped my carb to Mr. Osborne on June 23. Received it back on or about July 1. He was always very helpful with my questions when I called him.
