My '62 Electra Convertible has an annoying squeek coming from the back that I'm pretty sure is from the coil springs. I found a coil spring insulator kit on classic buick's and also on rockauto.com. They list it as a FRONT coil spring isulator kit. Would the rear springs be the same diamater as the front? To install these is it just a matter of compressing the springs with a spring compressor and sliping it in between the top of the spring and the frame? Anyone ever do this?

I think the front springs are the same diameter from top to bottom, where the rear springs are 'pigtailed' at the top and bottom. This means that the spring coils 'get tighter' at the top and bottom, smaller than the center area of the spring.
If you are able to compress the springs, try to clean the mounting surfaces of rust and debris and apply grease, antiseize, or some other lubricant to them. This should help if the springs are the issue. Sometimes just spraying penetrating oil or light grease can quickly/temporarily eliminate the noise so you can determine the exact source of the noise. Make sure it is not one of the control arm bushings/bolts squeaking before investing too much time/money on the springs. A little penetrating oil there can help identify the source as well.
    Good luck,
