FIRST QUESTION: I have a 71 455 stage1 GS, the previous owner told me it has a "Buick Club Cam". Anyone hear of this term or cam? Car has a nice rumble out the exhaust at idle.

SECOND QUESTION: I'm thinking of putting headers and exhaust on the car, presently has exhaust manifolds and some old parts store type exhaust. Recommendations on header brand and exhaust brand and size, I'm thinking 2 1/2". Car is pretty mint nice cruiser type of ride all Matching with A/C. Ron:3gears:

The GSCA or Buick GS club of America sells its own grinds of Cams made buy several different manufacturers. There are several different grinds so you would need the cam card to find exactly which one you have. Two of the most popular ones are the HEMI Killer and the Popular Mechanics Shootout Cam plus others. I have tried two different cams from them and have been impressed. Probably not worth changing cam if car runs good. Club is well worth joining.

Hi Ron, How about some more info on you car. Build date, Data Plate, Colors etc. I am always interested in matching original cars to find out what car came with. How about some pictures of car, engine, etc.

Hi Dave, Here's some pictures and information on my car. The pictures are the day after I got it and it has been in storage since. I'm moving into my new house in a month or so. I have new 15x7 rims and centercaps with T/A radials waiting to put on when It breaks out of storage prison! Oh the car is triple black auto on the column... Ron

Here is one more picture, I can't get the data tag to load even though I've resized it 3 different ways. Also the build is 04C explain that to me please. I purchased the car from a guy in OHIO about 2 months ago and he purchased it from the original owner's nephew a few years earlier in MICH...Ron

    04 = the 4th month or April
C = 3rd letter of alphabet or 3rd week of the month.

Fisher produced the body the 3rd week of April, 1971.

That's a nice car. Looks like somebody is molestering your car, though!

Ok now I understand, would anyone know then should my car have top terminal battery or side terminal. I was told there was a change over in mid 71 and my car currently has side terminal in it.

Side. If memory serves, the change over happened "on paper" in February. There is some question as to when it was implemented at the different plants. Surely, it was in place by April...

There is only one place to get the best headers..

    TA Performance

Exhaust you have more choices. TA sell exhaust also I got mine from Torque Tech He's a buick guy.

If you want concourse correct then Gardner Exhaust is the one.

I agree T/A headers fit best but still may bump places and need some pursuasion. I think change to side post happend late March to early April. Close as I can get. Do you have the original cables? They have part numbers on them close to where they attach to battery.

How are the T/A headers to install? Motor have to be lifted much or at all? How's the chrome coating hold up?

As far as my bat. cables can't answer if they are original but think not. Till I get my hands on my car again in a month or so alot is just unknown... Ron

You can install headers from the bottom if on a lift. Tough on your back. I had too lift it a bit if I rememer but not much. The chrome will never hold up on any header. Jet hot coating is better but trial fit before sending them out as you may have to bang them a bit to fit. it was a Pain in the A.

I did some internet shopping the other day and it seems none of the big name header companies care about Buicks (unless I'm putting and small block Chevy in). I feel like I'm looking for Mopar parts!!! So buying T/A headers bare and test fitting, dinging, and then finally jet-hot coating is the only way... Ron
